Kristen Booth A New York City Writer

Kristen’s purple baby jelly was hosed off her in the fine municipality of Cincinnati, Ohio. Twenty minutes later,
Joe and Betty fired-up the ’74 Gremlin and moved someplace far less shiny—Zanesville.

Kristen was raised, (however misplaced), among the wholesome cornfields of Midwestern America.
She was weaned on a healthy diet of three-wheeler tag, Natural Light, cheap neighbor boy porn, trash talk, and Mötley Crüe.
In this locality, our happy heroine grew up strong! Once the bar brawls ceased long enough (in the wake of her flirtatious disasters with anyone’s boyfriend), it was clear she had to blow that one horse town, so off to college she went!

School was a very welcome two-hour drive away in fair Kent, Ohio--a college with a town, not the other way around.
Change is necessary, even after three flawless months of hot summer lust with one’s elementary school principal’s son
in the starlit driveway of their home (whilst my former principal slept, unawares).
Kristen tossed all expectations out of her '84 Mustang Convertible and enrolled as a dance student at
Kent State University without so much as a minute’s training. Indeed, an abrupt “What the hell?”
was her parents' collective reaction. Good show, Betty and Joe!
But with a little faith and a lot of sweat, the line-up of hardcore professors in the kick ass dance department at
KSU put all the parts in place and convinced us all that everything was achievable.
Five long years and a belly full of ambition later,
Kristen was armed with a fierce front battement, a solid triple pirouette, and a whole lotta attitude.
What better place to go now than to the Center of the Universe?

Since the booming dot com days of 1997, Kristen has been pursuing the elusive star of success in the arts, in New York City; kicking and screaming the entire way. As a devoted “model/actress/dancer/waitress”
her resume started to accumulate such credits as:
Spin City, The Sopranos, and Late Nite with Conan O’Brien, in addition to many independent films, dance videos,
and live shows in clubs, blackbox theatres, rooftop bars, loft apartments, and penthouse suites.
Once the glimmer of underpaid/overhyped gigs started to dull, she started with writing her own content...
and found the experience far superior.

Life in New York City will provide plenty of fodder to fill-up blank pages in piles...
so long as you're a conscious recorder of what goes on around you, here.
Kristen did just that and transformed experience into art.
Her first solo performance came at the 1999 New York Independent Film and Video Festival held at Madison Square Garden, where Kristen wrote and performed her monologue "Varga Girl," about a 1950's pin-up poster babe, tacked to the wall of a young boy's bedroom, who comes to life.
Clad in skin-tight clam diggers and a crème colored bustier, she wowed a crowd of over 200 theatre professionals.
                        It was a boffo smash!

Kristen is now dedicating her time exclusively to writing, with brief (and necessary) pauses for dinner and debauchery.
She has performed her poetry at venues around New York City; in competitive slams at joints like the
historic Nuyorican Poet’s Café and The Bowery Poetry Club. She also attended the 2002 International Society of Poets Convention in Washington D.C., where she was awarded a publishing contract for her book Shine On, which was released in
May of 2004 to much critical acclaim.

As of September 2011, Kristen's latest publication is her first children's book titled Puggle In Pajamas.
In the wake of this most recent recession, it is a story, quite simply, about the value of friendship and staying positive,
no matter what's in your wallet or on your resume.
